Junior Sailing at the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron

Welcome to Junior Sailing at the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron! Our season runs from October through to March, with sessions held on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.

Whether you are a complete novice or want to build on your experience or are even looking for some advanced training, we have a junior program for you. Learn how to sail and advance your seamanship skills in water craft from dinghies through to deep keel boats. Engage in the vibrant junior social life that the club promotes and build lifelong friends.

The club fleet of dinghies such as Pacers, Optimas, Mirrors and  Lasers are there for your experience along with J24’s, learning how to use the rescue boat and crewing on deep keel vessels.

Wednesday evenings, during daylight saving hours, come from 5.30pm to rig and sail the boats, crewing first and working your way up to skippering.  Come to the quarterdeck then meet around the corner in the Junior Room for our briefing before launching boats from the ramp on the other side.

Sunday morning sailing is from 10am to 12noon. You have the option of either or both Wednesday and Sunday sessions, depending on what suits your timetable. Other times are also organised by the Juniors to make the most of good weather.

You may be eligible for the SA Sports Voucher as RSAYS is an approved provider.

If you are looking for learning though fun, a sense of belonging, some like-minded friends and new experiences with a vibrant, welcoming club atmosphere, this is the place for you. On Wednesday evening, we welcome parent help or if you would like to learn yourself as an adult we can give you a crewing experience on the larger boats that sail in the Wednesday twilight series.
